Life (and Coupons)

Soooo, back in April I made this big announcement that I was starting a blog to share my life and my budget secrets with my friends. And then life happened.

Mother's Day this year was tough. It's been almost a year since my mother's passing and I really miss her. I am grateful for my family and friends who have really been lifesavers the last few months.

But it's time to keep it movin'. Mr. B has been telling EVERYONE about my shopping exploits and the money I've saved and telling them to read my blog. So I should actually post some things, don't you think?

I recently made a trip to Publix using some of the tools I've learned. I spent $42.50, I saved $118.94 which equals a savings of 74%. Oh, I will receive a $10 rebate which will take my savings to 78%. Here's what I got:

On a recent visit to Target, I spend $25.47 and saved $24.70 which is only about 50% but look at what I was able to get for $25 bucks. Two racks of baby back ribs, two racks of St. Louis style ribs, Edys Ice Cream and Lea and Perrins! Whoohoo!

So my tip for the day is to get a subscription to All You magazine. You can purchase this magazine in Walmart but I strongly recommend a subscription. May's issue had $91.84 in coupons. In the three months that I have used this as one of my tools, I have saved almost all of the $20 for the subscription. The website also has great freebies (more on those on a later post).

Remember to purchase extra Sunday papers that have coupons and always in even number multiples! If you would like additional information or a list of the items pictured, just send me an email or comment and I'll reply pronto!

  1. Awesome tips! We never clip coupons, but rather just by generic brands at Wegmans. It's really saved us a lot of money compared to the other supermarkets.

  3. @ W.O.T.E. it's also a great idea to take a look at what's on sale at the stores that you shop at along with the coupon matchups. A lot of us generally post the best deals at our specific stores we cover along with the coupons that are available to share with our readers which items they will be getting at the lowest price and, in turn, need to stockpile! Those are basically the main two principles of super-couponing. The more you do it the better you will get at it and will DEFINITELY notice your OOP (out-of-pocket) expenses getting lower and lower.

    Hope that helps!

    Kay

  4. Keep the helpful tips coming! It's just ME, but I have managed to save a bit by using coupons (everyone is already calling me coupon lady! lol). One of my parent volunteers is going to start a coupon club for other parents to save money. I will definitely be a member of that group!:-)
